Awareness

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.

A simple search using just a word Yerukala on any one of the internet search engines will give around 3000 references. Prior to May 24 2007 (the day www.yerukala.info went online), the prominent ones among these links are the Western Christian Missionary websites. It was such a pity that the only source of information available on the internet about this ancient community is from the people who are having selfish motives.

It was extremely sad to see some of above websites giving a very wrong and offensive image about this community. The contents in those websites were of derogatory, abusive and sinister nature. Upon approaching those websites and requesting them to edit the contents, there was a significant success with those efforts. Some of the website adminstrators are still ignoring out requests to edit the contents. It was so shocking to see that a website has labeled this community as snake-eaters and rat-eaters.

There are half a million (500,000) Yerukalas and not even a single bit of useful information can be found on the web.

That was the scenario before we went online. We came to the conculsion that it is time to take matters into our hands. Nobody is going to do your job for you. We decided to create awareness, let everyone know who we really are.

This is an honest and unbaised effort to let the whole world know about us.
